Natural Health And Wellness
Interest in alternative medicine and natural health is growing like never before. With the costs of health care rising at alarming rates many people are seeking more simple and inexpensive alternatives. Others are seeking options that involve no drugs nor invasive measures. Some turn to alternative means in despiration when they don’t get the results they desire from the typical modern practices.
Most of the natural choices now referred to as ‘alternative’ medicine were once mainstream approaches to health and wellness. Some were based upon myth or superstition and discarded. Others were proven ineffective and replaced by more efficient scientific methods. But many still remain and are considered to be useful and sometimes even essential to populations throughout the world today.
Alternative therapies generally fall in to a few basic categories:
Nutritional – Dietary, vitamin & mineral, enzyme therapy
Homeopathy- Highly diluted ‘potenized’ organic compounds
Bodywork and Balance- massage, chiropractic, myotherapy, rolfing, Alexander technique, Feldenkrais
Mind/Body or Relaxation – biofeedback, hypnotherapy, visualization, meditation, aromatherapy
Plant Therapies – herbs, phytotherapy, flower and tree remedies
Energy Balancing – accupuncture, accupressure, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, therapeutic touch, EFT
Light, Sound, Color
